Testnet Begins. A Mascot is Born. The Network Grows.

June was all about activation.

From the quiet rollout of the Teneo AI Agent Testnet to the community-powered reveal of our new mascot, everything this month centered around movement. From planning to participation, from connected nodes to intelligent agents.

We’re entering a new stage in the protocol’s lifecycle, one where real-time, decentralized AI becomes usable, observable, and shaped by those running it.

Here’s what happened.

The AI Agent Testnet quietly goes live

The shift from Community Nodes to fully operational AI Agents has been in the works for months. In June, it moved out of the lab and into the hands of our earliest supporters.

The Teneo AI Agent Testnet officially began its rollout, starting with moderators, ambassadors, and a group of early adopters who were whitelisted based on past activity and readiness. Their mission? To activate their browser-based agents, follow setup flows, and provide the feedback that will shape the public release.

This is more than a technical test. It's the first time users are seeing what it means for a browser to think, act, and structure real-time data for decentralized intelligence. With private channels open and heartbeat metrics live, the network is coming to life.

The phased rollout will continue over the coming weeks. If you haven’t been whitelisted yet, make sure your Discord and 𝕏 accounts are linked and your Machine ID is created, your chance may come soon.

Mascot Challenge: From 700 entries to one shared identity

In May, we invited the community to imagine what Teneo and our network of AI Agents might look like as a character. Something that could embody decentralized AI, real-time data, and the spirit of the protocol itself. In June, the votes were cast, the reviews were made, and the winners were announced.

From over 700 entries, three creators stood out with submissions that captured different facets of what Teneo represents: openness, intelligence, and energy. The top entry will now serve as our creative springboard as we shape the protocol’s visual identity going forward.

We’ve since been fine-tuning the mascot internally, and we can’t wait to share the official Teneo Mascot with you in the coming days.

Tagging Up in Discord

Toward the end of June, we introduced the Teneo tag as a custom identifier for user profiles on Discord. It's a small update, but one that adds a visible layer of identity for contributors and community members actively shaping the protocol.

As more users activate agents and take on roles across the ecosystem, this kind of lightweight recognition helps reinforce a shared sense of purpose and belonging.

Ambassadors: Expansion underway

While most of the onboarding is happening in July, June marked the beginning of the next wave of Teneo Ambassadors. With interest growing from every region, the Ambassador Program is scaling to help bring more structure, education, and energy to the ecosystem.

From supporting the Testnet to helping newcomers understand the protocol’s mission, Ambassadors are becoming the front lines of Teneo’s global presence, and they’re just getting started.

Teneo in the Spotlight

Teneo was recently featured in a RockawayX deep dive, spotlighting how the protocol is building a decentralized alternative to centralized data platforms.

The piece examines the rise of permissioned APIs and the limitations they impose,  especially on builders, researchers, and agents trying to operate in real time. It positions Teneo as one of the few protocols building a permissionless coordination layer for open web data.

What’s Next

The Testnet rollout will continue through July, and with it, more community members will gain access, new insights will surface, and the network will sharpen.

We’ll also be introducing new dashboard features, refining agent behaviors, and laying the groundwork for the public phase. And that mascot? You’ll be seeing more of it soon.
